Welcome Welcome to the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, a nine–week course for those seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines. The world of wine is rapidly changing, with myriad developments in wine production and consumption the world over. This course, as with all WSET's courses, is constantly being updated to reflect the sorts of wines most often made and drunk now. Importantly, this course delves into a detailed understanding of the constants in the wine world, like grape growing and wine making. Upon completion, you will be able to assess wines accurately and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality. We hope that you enjoy discovering more about the fascinating world of wines, and wish you every success in your Level 3 journey! |
What to Expect?
This short course consists of nine modules which cover topics from tasting techniques, to styles of wines, to factors that affect style and quality in wine. Each module is designed to be interactive, so expect to post in discussion forums, watch videos, complete quizzes and reflect on tasks. Completing all the modules should take you 90 hours to complete (10 hours per week), excluding time for exam revision. As there are nine modules and you have nine weeks to complete the course, you are strongly advised to complete one module per week. Each module is designed to build upon prior modules, so you will not get the most out of your online education if you skip ahead or fall behind. All of this information and more can be found in the Online Classroom Welcome Pack that you received.
The best way to work through the modules in this course is to use the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons that appear in the bottom right and left-hand corners of the module pages. To learn more about navigating the online course, you can watch this video.
We also have recommendations for the optimal experience of Canvas (the platform on which the Online Classroom is hosted) on different devices. Follow the prompts in the flowchart to see what is best for you. For a transcript of the flowchart, please download this document Download this document.
Your Educator and Classmates
Your educator will be there to guide you through your learning. They will give feedback and guidance on some of your activities and tasting notes. You are also welcome to contact them directly via the 'Chat' at any point during the course. After this nine–week course finishes, your educator will no longer be available to assist you.
In fact, you will meet your educator and classmates soon! One of the first activities in this course is a discussion forum where you can introduce yourself to your classmates and ask any questions you might have. More information on this activity can be found in the Introduction section of this module.
